This half-term we will be learning about the Polar Regions. We will learn about where they are in relation to Poynton and will learn about the climate in the polar regions as well as who lives there.

Last half-term our geography topic was Is the earth round? We learned about the position of the United Kingdom in relation to other countries on earth and learned the names of different continents and oceans.

Earlier this year we learned about the local area. We identified human and physical features around our school. We walked around the school grounds and looked further afield using aerial photographs from Google Earth. We also compared the features around Lostock Hall with those around Sinendet Scool, Nakuru, Kenya, our partner school. Finally we made our own maps and created our own simple keys.
